A statement that rumours of the impending resignation of Marshal Cliiang Kai-slielt are absolutely groundless is contained in a cablegram from Hankow received by the Chines© Consul. The message states that Marshal Kai-shek has left Nanking to inspect other fronts. Chinese mobile units, it is stated, have recaptured a number of places in East Shantung, South Hopei and southward of Taihu Lake.
