RAILWAYMEN’S PAY.
A request that railway employees whose fortnightly pay-day falls on December 30 should receive their pay earlier preferably on Christmas Eve, 1 was made by Air J. A McL Roy m ’ an urgent question addressed to the I Minister of Railways (Hon. D. D. Sullivan), in the House of Representatives yesterday. “The department ! has arranged to pay all employees (ro in<r on leave, such as workshops 'employees, etc., prior to Christmas, the Minister replied, “hut in the case of the employees in the traffic, locomotive and permanent way branches who will be working on the days between Christmas and New Year, it will not be practicable to make the payment before the due date. The pavment before Christmas will also be made to relief workers engaged on works under the juridiction of the l Railways Departments.”
