Mrs F. 0. Steffensen, formerly of New Plymouth and Wellington, is taking up her residence in Palmerston North.
Mrs E. H. Everett, of Wanganui, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs H.. Holder, Cook Street, before leaving next week by the Awatea with her husband for a five weeks’ holiday in Sydney and Melbourne Whilst there they will join Mrs Everett, senr., who has just returned to Sydney after a year’s tour abroad. The first woman to be returned to Parliament in the State of Victoria, Australia, is Mrs Clarence Weber, who stood as an Independent for the Nunawading seat. The Marchioness of Sligo returned to Auckland from Palmerston North on Monday, and sailed for the Islands yesterday.
Mrs R. Dossor is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs T. J. Rodgers, of Church Street. Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs Dossor, who have recently been living in Dunedin, will, after the Ne w Year, take up their residence in Wellington, in which centre Mr Dossor (formerly of Massey College) has received an appointment. The death has occurred at Dunediu of Mrs Fergus, wife of Dr Fergus. Mrs Fergus, as Sister Christine Gibbons, saw war service in France. After the Armistice she identified herself with various movements directed to the promotion of women’s interests. The nurses’ memorial fund naturally engaged her warm sympathy. She was the first secretary of the League of in Dunedin and was founder of the children’s day nursery. Mrs was a regular participant in women’s golf competitions.

Miss Mabel E. Raleigh, of Pahiatua, will leave England on January 29, by the Orcades. She will first go to Egypt and then to Ceylon, staying about a fortnight in each place before Continuing her journey to Australia and New Zealand. She expects to be home about the middle of April, writes a London correspondent. A tree was planted and dedicated to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth by Mrs Bingham, wife of the American Ambassador in London, in the grounds of Stratford Hall, Virginia, the home of General Robert E. Lee, King George II once contributed '£3oo towards the„ rebuilding of Stratford Hall after it had been gutted by fire.
