WELLINGTON MARKET PRICES.
WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. Prices of fruit, vegetables, and other produco- in the Wellington markets this week are quoted as follow: Apples.—Delicious, 6s to 12s 9d per bushel ease; Stunners, 6s to 11s 6d. Pears: Winter Coles, 6s to 14s per 4-case; Winter Nelis, 6s to 12s; cookers, 7s to 9s. Red currants. 4s 6d to' 5s 6cl per bucket; apricots, 7s to 8s 6d per i-oase. Plums: Bronze, 5s to 6s 6d per s>-case; cherry, 4s 6d to 6s 6d ; Sharp's Early, 6s 6d to 11s. Lemons, 10s to 18s per bushel case. Strawberries, Nelson, 7d to Is 6d per punnet; cherries, 6s to 13s per i-case; grapefruit, New Zealand, 6s to 7s per bushel case. ' 'Tomatoes, hothouse, Bd’ to Is l2d per pound; Nelson, ripe, 9d to lid; coloured, 8d to lOd. Beans, hothouse, 8d to Is per lb; gooseberries, 3d to 33d per lb; cucumbers, hothouse, 4s to 8s per dozen; outside, 8s to lls 9d per i-case. New potatoes, 10s to 14s per sack; peas, 6s to 9s, 6d per sack: Asparagus, 6d to 9s per bunch; cauliflowers, 2s to 4s per sack; cabbage 6d to Is 6d per case; lettuce, Is 6d to 5s 6d per case; spinach, Is to 6s 9d per case. Swedes, 2d to 3d per bunch; carrots, 2d to 5d per bunch ; parsnips 6d to lOd per bunch; beetroot, 2d to 4d pcibunch ; rhubarb, 3s to 8s per dozen bunches; walnuts, 8d to lOd per lb. Eggs.—A grade, Is 6d per dozen; medium, Is sd. AUCKLAND MARKET PRICES. AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. Since last report the chief alteration I in the local grain and produce markets has been in potatoes, which have shown a sharp drop. Fresh sources of supply are now available, and iPukekohe no longer has a complete monopoly in supplying the market. A week ago merchants were quoting 8s to 9s 6d per supar bag through store, whereas to-day the price is 5s 6d Onions, too, aro cheaper. Tile price has been lowered from 18s 6d to 16s per 1001 b bap;. The market in the south is very firm for oats and chaff. The local price of B Gartons has been raised Id., and ranges from 4s 8d to 4s 9d per bushel. Chaff is unchanged at £9 15s per ton. Spot stocks ot fowl wheat are .very short, aria merchants aro anxiously waiting for the arrival of fresh supplies from Australia, which are due on Friday. There is a good demand at the Government fixed price of 7s 3d per bushel. The market for maize is still supplied with South African, and local growers show no disposition to offer their holdings at prices , that merchants will consider. The price of barley meal ha 3 been lowered to lls 6d per 1001 b.
