DRASTIC PROPOSAL.
COMPLETE STATE CONTROL. CROPS IN UNITED STATES. WASHINGTON, Nov. 27. Complete Government control of tlie nation’s crops, at an annual cost estimated at 1,000,000,000 ' dollars, appears to be a possibility. The alternative is voluntary control involving the expenditure of 250,000,000 dollars in addition to 500,000,000 dollars a year now authorised for soil conservation. . The Agriculture Committee of the House of Representatives lias approved compulsory marketing agreements relating to the sale by farmers, of wheat, corn cotton, tobacco and rice. Stringent’ penalties are imposed for growers who try to sell crops raised on unauthorised land.
