CONTROL OF CROPS.
NEW MEASURE ATTACKED. SENATOR’S SPEECH. WASHINGTON, Dec. 4. Senator Borah, in a typically vitriolic speech attacking the Government’s contemplated crop control measure, said: “President Roosevelt admits that 40,000,000 people are underfed, yet Nature’s bounty will be deliberately destroyed. We cannot permit this condition to continue, for we will rear a class of human beings who are full of revolution and disturbance.”
He declared that attempts to regulates the law of economy through a Congressional Act were laughable and opposed to mankind’s experiences over 2000 years. He demanded Government purchase of excess crops to feed the needy, “even if it takes the last dollar in the Treasury.”
