WEDDINGS.

DAVIES—CORNFORTH. A wedding of much interest was celebrated at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Mangatainoka, on the evening of Saturday, November 20, when Florence Mary, elder daughter of Mr and Airs R. Cornforth, of Kohinui, Paliiatua, was married to Charles Percy, elder son of Mr and Airs P. AV. Davies. of Pahiatua. Friends of the bride had beautified the church with a wealth of summer blooms. Rev. P. AViltsliire, of Pongaroa, performed the ceremonj'.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked picturesque in a gown of angelskin satin and lace cut on classical lines and finished with a long circular train appliqued with lace roses. The bodice bad a lace yoke and tight-fitting sleeves, with lace and tiny buttons to the elbows and coming to a point over the hands, tiny buttons also adorning the back of the bodice. She wore a gold necklet which had been worn by lier mother at her marriage. Her dainty tulle veil, which was embroidered with true lovers’ knots, was caught to her head with a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a. bouquet of cream “bride” roses, gladioli, maidenhair fern, and streamers. Jn attendance as bridesmaids were Aliss Thelma Cameron, of Palmerston North (chief) and Aliss Alary McKay (Pahiatua), who were similarly attired in 1 sweet frocks of blue needle-run lace with haloes and belts of gold lame leaves, also gold shoes to tone. An unusual touch was their gold satin muffs ornamented with gotd sprays and streamers, and they wore gold armlets, the gift of the bridegroom. There were two flower girls. Myra Cornforth, sister of the bride, and Dawn AVright, cousin of the bridegiuom. Air Afalcolm Davies, of Pahiatua, supported his brother as best man, Mr Lewis Hamilton (Pahiatua) officiating as groomsman.

On leaving the chmcn the bride was presented with a luexy black cat by her three-year-old brother Norman. At the reception foYowing, 80 guests were entertained. AL- and-Airs Cornforth received the guests, tho latter wearing a frock of navy georgette and lace with picture hat and accessories to tone, her bouquet being of red roses. Airs Davies, mother of the bridegroom, wore a brown fioral ensemble with hat, gloves and shoes to match and she carried a bouquet of cream roses.

AIACKIE—HURST. At. St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, on the afternoon of October 30, the marriage was solemnised of Hazell Annie, eldest daughter of Air and Airs A. AV. Hurst, of Rongotea, and Alexander Robert, youngest son of Airs and the late Mr A. Alackie, • of Peterhead, Aberdeen, Scotland. Rev AV. J. Berry, of AVanganui, an esteem ed friend of the young couple, officiated, and Air A. J. Graham presided at the organ. The bride who entered the church escorted by her father, wore a gown of richly tinted ivory satin, the closefitting corsage trimmed with tiny buttons from neckline to waist at the back. The sleeves were close fitting, forming points over the hands, while the skirt which was fully flared, fell gracefully to form a circular train. Her beautifully embroidered tulle veil

fell softly from a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet or white roses, irises, and trails of hly-of-the-valley and maidenhair fern. Mrs Cecil Hyde, of Palmerston North, sister of the bride, who attended as matron of honour, and Miss Sally Walter, of Dannevirke, as bridesmaid, were frocked alike in sort pink cloque, cut on similar lines to the bride’s gown. -They wore gold head bands finished with pink rosebuds, pink lace mittens and pink shoes, and carried bouquets of pink gerberas, Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern.

The dutiest of best ma-n were carried out by Mr Cecil Hyde, of 1 almerston North, and. those of Js r °°. ms ' man by Mr Alex Gavin, of Wellington. , , . As the bride left the church she was presented with a lucky horse shoe by her niece, Ngaire Hurst. A reception was afterwards held at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame s tearooms, where Mrs Hurst, the mother of the bride, assisted by Mrs Gavin, of Itoseneath, Wellington (an old friend of the bridegroom’s family), received over one hundred guests. Mrs Hurst wore a gown of forest-green satirtbeaute, black tailored coat and hat, and carried ■ a charming posy of lily-of-the-valley and maidenhair tern. Mrs Gavin wore a navy ensemble and navy hat, and carried a posy of red ranunculi and maidenhair fern. The beautiful bouquets were made by Mrs O. Rand, of Foxton, aunt of the bride. A feature of the breakfast was the beautiful three-tiered wedding cake which had been made by the bride s sister, Mrs C. Hyde. The following toast list was honoured:—“Bride and Bridegroom,” MiBerry; “Bridesmaids,” Mr F. G. Moore; “Bride’s Parents,” Mr J. C. Glover; “Bridegroom’s Mother,” Mr Gavin;. “Absent Friends,” Mr H. J. Crawford; “Mr Berry,” Mr Hurst. Mr L. H. Yarrall, who had known the bride since girlhood, spoke of the esteem in which both she and her parents were held in the district. Mr Johnson, of Carnarvon, also spoke eulogistically of the work which the young couple had performed in connection with the Bible class and church. The bride was attired for travelling in a smart navy and white frock, with grey- tailored spring coat, navy hat, and accessories to tone. The numerous handsome gifts were a mark of popularity of the young couple. _ r After a motor tour of the north. Mr and Mrs Mackie’s future home will be at Aokautere.
