VALEDICTORY FUNCTION.
RESIDENTS FAREWELLED. Members of the Feilding Plunket Society Committee gathered on Monday afternoon to bid farewell to Mrs J. B. Purcell and her daughter, Dorothy, who aro leaving for Oamaru, where they will make their new home. Mr Purcell proceeded to Oamaru to take up his duties as chief postmaster several weeks ago. The decorations comprised large bowls of multi-colour-ed stocks. Mrs Purcell was presented with a 6heaf of beautiful paeonies. Mrs McCorkindale, president, on behalf of the committee, thanked Mrs Purcell for her help and co-operation. Her enthusiasm and generous support had helped materially towards the success of branch activities. Miss Purcell also had helped ill various ways and her assistance had been much appreciated. The remarks of the president were endorsed by Mrs T. Collins (Mayoress) who conveyed good wishes to Mrs and Miss Purcell and asked Mrs Purcell to accept a crystal powder, bowl as a small memento of her association with the society in Feilding. Mrs F. Mason, vice-president, presented' Miss Purcell with a book of recipes. Two novel competitions were won by Mrs V. J. Stichbury and Miss Peg Davies. Another original item was the arrival of the Plunket mail bag containing Christmas greetings and fortune’s favours for each member of the party. Those present included Mesdames T. Collins (Mayoress), A. McCorkindale, F Mason, J. B. Purcell. R. M. Watson E. Fair, C. Tate, T. Donaldson, H. V. Davies, P. G. Stevens, F. Orr, R. K. Lowrie, A. McGregor. H. Brown, W. Halse, P. Strawbridge, Misses M. McElroy, D. Lynch, Thomson (Hamilton), D. Purcell, P. Davies and G. Thomson. . The home of Mrs H. Davies, Denhigh Street, was the scene of a joint farewell party to Mesdames Coppock and Purcell, on AVednesday afternoon. Mrs Davies received her guests wearing a smart black georgette frock, relieved with a cherry coloured sash. She was assisted by her daughter, Miss P. Davies, who wore a pretty frock of black and floral georgette. Mrs Coppock wore a navy ensemble and Airs Purcell chose a henna frock. Two competitions were won by Airs AUctor Smith, and Mrs Coppock. Airs Davies presented both guests of honour with silver plated cake dishes and voiced the regret of all their friends at their departure from .Feilding, but wished them much happiness in their new homes., Aliss Dorothy Purcell was the recipient of a pair of guest towels from girl friends present. Airs Coppock’s new home will be in New Plymouth, to which centre her husband, Mr H. Coppock. of the Union Bank, has been transferred.
