REGENT THEATRE. “FOR VALOUR.’’ After a lapse of some 18 months, one of the most brilliant comedy trios ever united on the screen is once more launched on a great new laughter campaign, and the result —a film which is proving to ho the comedy sensation of tho year and screening finally at the Regent Theatre to-nifilit& It is “For Valour,” a Capitol Film production, co-starring Tom Walls and Ralph Lynn, and which has been adapted from an original story by that prince of comedy authors, Ben Travers. Directed by Tom Walls, it is the most ambitious picture ever undertaken by this great trio, providing them with unique opportunities. The famous comedy co-stars both appear in dual roles. Tom Walls, minus his moustache, appears ag a private in the Boer War, and a convict adorned with a perfect cauliflower ear. Ralph Lynn will be seen for the first time without his monocle, as a major in the British Army, and later as a senile, doddering old man, and, of course, both stars contrive to appear as themselves. These facts alone arc a sufficient guarantee of tho film’s entertainment value, but, in addition, the Ben Travers story is unlike anything this inimitable pair have ever essayed. Major Pyke, wishing to reward suitably a private in his battalion for saving his life, is distressed to discover the man is an escaped convict, and when, years afterwards, he sees him in prison, offers to bring up tho crook’s son with his own grandson, who, it is hoped, will prove an influence for tho good. In this he proves sadly mistaken, for, from then on, a life of crime is led by all 1

STATE THEATRE. “EXCLUSIVE” AND GOOD MORNING BOYS.” A brilliant cast, an excellent story and superb direction, well spiced with action, comedy and tense 'drama, combine to make of “Exclusive, ’’ the motion picture which screens at tho State Theatre tonight in conjunction with Will Hays “Good Morning Boys,” one of the season’s real hit films. Using a battle between two rival newspapers as its background, the story concerns tho sacrifice a father is forced to make when ho ' must choose between strict adherence to the newspaper code or betrayal of his own daughter. The cast is headed by Fred MncMurray, Frances Farmer and Charlie Buggies, and include Llayd Nlan, Fay Holden, Ralph Morgan and a score of other noted players. In tho story Buggies is cast ns the father and Miss Farmer is the daughter. Mac Murray, Rugglcs best friend, is in love with Miss Farmer. Nolan, corrupt politician, opens a rivSl newspaper which he intends to use as a blackmail sheet and to gloss over his own depredations with the city’s finances. He offers Ruggles and Mac Murray more money to come to work for him but they refuse. Alls.? Farmer, however, accepts a position on tho corrupt newspaper. The powerful climax is reached when the ideals of father and daughter clash. Miss Farmer's muck-raking activities cause one of the town’s leading citizens to take his life and it is I'uggffis’ task to write the story of his daughter's method- for his own paper. “Exclusive” was directed for Paramount by Alexander Hall, noted for his ability to keep if story “moving,” and the way he did it with “Exclusive” is a tribute to his genius.
