MEASURE AMENDED. Per Press Associatin. WELLINGTON, Nov. 25. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 when the AVhangarei Airport II was discussed in committee. Hon. T. Bloodworth moved to amend Clause 17 to liiake it mandatory tliat the board should bo represented on the committee given delegated powers. The provision opposed by Mr Bloodworth was contained in a sub-clause which stated, “It shall not be necessary that any person appoint-
ed to be a member of the committee under this section shall be a member of the board.” Tlio amendment proposed to strike out the word “not” and alter “any person” to “one or more of the persons.” The amendment was carried after Hon. Martin, who was in charge of the Bill, had said tlier« was no objection to the amendment, but it would delay the passage of tlie Bill and, consequently, ho would not accept it hut would leave it to tlie decision of the council. Hon. AV. Perry suggested that the amended sub-clause should be redrafted as follows: “Oil any committee appointed under the last preceding subsection there shall be at least one member of the board.” The sub-section was struck out and the suggested new one adopted., Tho Bill was read the third time and passed. Other measures put through the committee stages without amendment and passed were the Coal Mines Amendment Bill ; the Sale of AVool Bill, the Dunedin District Drainage and Sewerage Amendment Bill, tlie Tiniaru Harbour Board Loan Amendment Bill, and the Christchurch Tramway Board Empowering Bill.
