ROUGH WEATHER.
VESSELS DELAYED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. The working of ships at the wharves to-day was practically at a standstill owing to continued rain, and schedules ■were affected in most eases. The Japanese motor ship Sydney JM/iru, which was to have left for Weilington this afternoon, is now expected to sail to-morrow and the departures of numbers of coastal vessels were also postponed. Misty conditions ruled * in the H.auraki Gulf and on the Vest Coast. „ . The Anchor Line steamer, Kairoa, bound from Nelson to Onehunga, sent a wireless message stating that the fog was preventing her crossing the Manukau bar.' She finally crossed at 6.30 to-night in rough weather, but anchored in the harbour on account of the darkness .and mist. Rough conditions are believed to be responsible for a. delay of 15 hours in the arrival at Auckland from Westport of the Westport Cnal Co.’s steamer Canopus, which was. previously expected here at four o’clock this afternoon. The Canopus sent a wireless message to-night stating that she would reach port at seven o’clock to-morrow morning.
