CATTLE DISEASE.
QUESTION IN COMMONS. LONDON, Nov. 22. On condition that every exhibit be slaughtered at London after the show because of the foot-and-mouth disease, the Ministry of Agriculture has Riven permission to the Smithfield Club to hold the cattle show at Islington m December. ... The King is sending entries of cattle and sheep. The entries total 1000.. In the House of Commons, questioned as to whether, in view of the seriousness of the foot-and-mouth disease, the House would be given the opportunity to discuss the matter before Christmas, Mr Chamberlain said that, although the position was serious it was not alarming. There was no reason to suppose that the measures wliich had . been effective in the past would not again be successful. The position was being carefully watched. A later message states that Sandringham is now within the infected area and, therefore, cattle from this part of the King’s estate will be barred from the Christmas exhibitions.
