FRANK AND OPEN
TALKS AT BERLIN. LORD HALIFAX’S STATEMENT. BETTER UNDERSTANDING. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received November 22, 10.40 a.m. BERLIN, Nov. 21. Lord Halifax received representatives of the British Press at the British Embassy. He said his talks with Herr Hitler, General Goering and Baron von Neurath had been very frank and very open in character, but were absolutely informal and confidential, and nothing could be said about them. He hoped the door had been opened a little wider to a better understanding of the relations between the two countries. He had been able to inform himself of the German viewpoint. No arrangements had been made for a continuation of the conversations—that did not rest with him. *
Asked to confirm the report that Baron von Neurath is going to London, Lord Halifax said that what would happen would depend on further consultations between Berlin and London.
