AIETIIODIST CHURCH, (From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Nov. 22. A most enjoyable evening in connection with the local Bible classes took place on Thursday. At the invitation of Air and Mrs W. R. Pratt 24 young people were entertained at their home. A banquet commenced the evening, Rev. R. Coombridge leading devotions. Air Pratt extended a welcome to all. Several toasts were honoured, including host and hostess and Airs Coombridge, who were thanked for all they had done in- connection with the evening. By the light, of the full moon and also flood lighting, games were enjoyed on the lawn. Later, supper was served. A happy feature was presentations by the classes to their leaders. On behalf of the young women’s class Aliss C. Digby presented Mr W. R. Pratt with a handsome set of book ends, and from the young men’s class. Air N. Cockburn presented Air Coombridge with a writing compendium. This function marked the completion of another successful year’s work. It had also been arranged to coincide with the opening of a new and comfortable cottage Air Pratt has just had built for his employees. PERSONAL. Miss Witney, of the Valley Road School, is in Wanganui this week sitting for the college entrance examination. Airs R. J. Bibby, of Pahiatua, is the guest of her sister, Airs Wright, of the Terrace Road. Rev. R. Coombridge loaves tomorrow to attend the Manawatu District Methodist Synod being held at Cuba Street, Palmerston North. Inspectors Crosbie and Merrington visited the school last week. Mr and Airs W. J. Viles visited Hastings during the week-end to attend the funeral of the late Mrs Barnbridge, a sister of Airs Viles.
