CATTLE-STEALING CHARGE.

FARMER FOUND GUILTY. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Nov. 17. Leonard Alma Turner, farmer. Tinline, was found guilty by a jury this afternoon on a charge of stealing three head of cattle at Tinline on March 1. Tho case was first heard at the last sessions of the Supreme Court at Blenheim, when a jury failed, to "agree, .and to-day the jury deliberated from 11.50 a.m. till 4.45 p.m. and made a strong recommendation to mercy. “In view of the laxity shown in the district in regard to the earmarking and branding of stock, we recommend that a system should ho adopted making the marking of cattle compulsory,” the jury stated. Prisoner was remanded by Mr Justice Northcroft till to-morrow for sentence.
