Miss O. McLean, of Dannevirke, is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs D. S. McLean, of Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs R. B. Sinclair returned to Palmerston North yesterday from a holiday visit to Christchurch, where they were the guests of Mrs Bullivant.
Miss May Horneman, of Masterton, is leaving Wellington on December 3 for England, haying obtained a position for a year in a special school in Nottingham. Miss Horneman will spend the week-end with her cousin, Mrs H. Shepherd, of “Coleridge,” Colyton. At the monthly meeting of the Dannevirke Hospital Board Miss Mabel Brown, who has been matron of the public hospital for the pa'st 12 years, tendered her resignation on account of continued ill-health. After a long discussion the resignation was accepted with regret, and the board decided to grant Miss Brown six months’ leave of absence on full pay. At the conclusion of the final presentation last evening of “The Land of Promise” by the Palmerston North Little Theatre Society those connected with the production were the guests of Mr and Mrs J. S. Hornb’ow at a supper party. It proved a delightful conclusion to a successful season, and the onportunity was taken to show in tangible form appreciation of the services of the producer, Mrs L. T. Bristow. Mr R. Park, on behalf of the members of the cast, handed. Mrs Bristow a book of Galsworthy plavs, at the same time calling for musical honours for her.
