RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, Oct. 19. In the passing of Mr Emanuel Pickford another link with early Rangitikei has been severed. Mr Pickford, who w'Vs born at Frome, Somerset, on August 22, 1862, and came to New Zealand in the lonic in November 1884 first worked for Mr F. Richmond on a’dairy farm, where lie manufacturod cheese For a short time also he was with the late Mr H. Hammond, o Waitohi, and then secured a block ot land in the Sandon Block and commenced farming on h.s. own account In 1886 he married Miss Catherine Elizabeth Whitaber, whose grandfather Mr John Rowbottom, came out with the 65th Regiment as bandmaster under tho late Sir Mdham Russell. Fourteen years ago Mr Pickford retired from active farming and to Marton, where he resided until nu death. .
