YESTERDAYIS BUSINESS AND PRICES. Reacting to overseas influences, the stock and share markets yesterday were dull with a weaker tendency in most sections. Nevertheless, there was a fairly substantial turnover, which covered a wide range, and included several parcels of Government stocks. The demand for the latter was irregujar and possibly a shade easier. Bank shares were quiet with an easy trend in quotations. National of New Zealand sold at 58s 3d and New Zealand at 43s 9d, more being wanted at those prices. Commercial of Australia eased to 17s, sellers 17s 3d, and New South Wales to £32 12s 6d, sellers £33 ss. Pastoral, insurance and most industrial and trading issues were dull. Broken Hill Proprietary eased to 655, cum div., and ex rights, buyers staying in at 64s 9d, and quoting 28s for the rights to the new issue of one for three at a premium of 10s. Metal issues sagged heavily, Electrolytic Zinc ordinaries selling at 50s 3d. Buyers remained in at 50s, and offered 52s 6d for the preference. Mount Lyell had unsupported buyers at 375.
