HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr A. W. Just presided at the monthly meeting of the committee of the Palmerston North Horticultural Society. The chairman referred to the loss the society had sustained in the passing of Mrs A. J. Graham, who had been a consistent supporter. As a mark of respect members stood in silence. The sympathy of members was conveyed to Mrs Galland (a sister of the late Mrs Graham). The balance-sheet for the National Daffodil Show disclosed a satisfactory credit; receipts being approximately £7O. The chairman thanked all who had helped to make the show so successful. Many people had spoken in complimentary terms of the show, while one of the judges had stated that it was the best he had seen in the North Island, and had complimented the committee on the arrangements for judges and exhibitors, stating he had not seen better. Judges and stewards were appointed for the rose show to be held in Nirr ember. The monthly competitions resulted: Mrs A' A. Graham (stocks) 1, Mrs J. Louisson (ixias) 2, Mrs J. B. Morgan (tulips) 3.
