Japanese warships shelled the treaty port of Pakhoi, but shore batteries frustrated a landing. . . Giving evidence at the inquiry into tho sinking of the Chinese junks at Hong Kong, two owners described the short range attacks by two submarines. The crew were uniformed like Japanese. Later the attackers _ * machine-gunned seventeen survivors in a 6ampan, killing nine of them.
