MORE AIR RAIDS
NANKING BOMBED AGAIN. PEOPLE FLEE FROM BEDS. CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received October 20, 10.6 a.m. NANKING, Oct. 19. Inhabitants fled from their beds and sheltered in chilly dug-outs during tw o Japanese air raids early this morning, in which it is claimed that fifteen Chinese ’planes were damaged as well as 31 in raids on Hankow. Japanese warships shelled the treaty port of Pakhoi, but shore batteries frustrated a landing. . . Giving evidence at the inquiry into tho sinking of the Chinese junks at Hong Kong, two owners described the short range attacks by two submarines. The crew were uniformed like Japanese. Later the attackers _ * machine-gunned seventeen survivors in a 6ampan, killing nine of them.
