MR JUSTICE ADAMS.
DEATH AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 10. The death occurred to-day of Mr Justice Adams, who a short time ago retired from the Supreme Court Bench.
Hon. Alexander Samuel Adams, who had boon a Judge of the Supreme Court of Now Zealand since 1921, was born at the Taicri in 1861. Ho was a son of the late Mr John J. Adams, who had arrived in Dunedin in 1848, and was educated at the Old Stone School and the Middle District School, Dunedin. Choosing law as a profession, he entered the office of Mr J. A. D. Adams, Dunedin, and in 1874 won the certificate of the Canterbury Society. He commenced business ns a barrister and solicitor in 1883, and practised in this capacity in partnership with his brother until 1910. He was president ot the Council of C'hurchc6 in 1903-04, president of the New Zealand Baptist Union in 1905-06, an ex-president of the New Zealand Alliance, and an cx-prosident of the Otago and Southland No-License Committee. In 1908 he contested the electorate of Dunedin West. He was apponted a Crown Solicitor in. 1920. and a Judge of the Supremo Court in 1921.
