OBITUARY
AIRS L. G. BERRY. The recent passing of Airs L. G. Berry, of Bourke Street, Palmerston North, removed one who will be greatly missed by a host of friends throughout the city. Airs Berry, whose husband lias been a teacher for the past 15 years at the Central School, was, prior to her marriage, Miss Emily Drury, second daughter of the late Air and Airs Drury of this city. She was born in Taonui Street, and when she was one year old her parents took up their residence at Terrace End, opposite, the Hospital. At that time Terrace End had just been cleared of bush and the charred stumps of trees still remained. The late Airs Berry received her education at the Terrace End School, and also beca'me associated with St. Peter’s Anglican Church as a Sunday school pupil, Bible class member, and then choir member. In 1913 she was married to Air Berry, and since their marriage Air and Mrs Berry have resided at Halcombe, Okoia, ' Tiakitahuna, Ohakea, and Palmerston North.
Besides her husband, Airs Berry is survived by four daughters—Airs N. Donaldson, of Feilding, Aliss Eunice Berry, of Victoria University College, and Misses Audrev and Alargaret. The funeral, which took place at the Kelvin Grove cemetery, was largely attended, and there were numerous floral tributes. Rev. F. S. Ramson, vicar of St. Peter’s Church, officiated. The pall-bearers wore Messrs J. Connor, L. Williams (both of Centra] School), L. J. Plank (representing the Alanawalu Rugby Union, of which Air Berry is an executive member), A. Gordon (Manawatu Bugbv Referees' Association, of which Air Berry is president), and A. Qo'oksley and G. Farrar (Takaro Bowling Club, of which Air Berry is an executive member).

NELSON, Sept. 2. The death has occurred at Nelson of Mr Robert Thomas Sadd, aged 79 years, formerly Commissioner of Crown Lands, Nelson, and other parts of New Zealand. After visiting the Nelson Lands Department office last week lie had a stroke and was taken to Nelson Hospital, where lie died last night. Air Sadd, as a young, man, was engaged in the original surveys of the back country in Nelson province and the West Coast, being stationed at various times at Reefton and Golden Bay. He was a highly esteemed officer of the department and was appointed to the position of Commissioner of Crown Lands in Nelson. Later he .was transferred in a similar capacity to Napier and Dunedin belore he retired some years ago. He lived ill Dunedin for some time before making his home in Auckland several years ago. Recently he came to Nelson on a visit to friends and relatives. Deceased leaves a widow, two sons, and four daughters—Alcssrs Gerald Sadd (Invercargill), Edgar Sadd (Auckland), Airs W. H. Alav (Richmond), Mrs Trevor de Clive Lowe (Auckland), Airs Douglas Hastings (Dunedin), Airs Parkin (Auckland). Messrs J. B. Sadd (Nelson) and G. E. Sadd (Wellington) are brothers Mrs.N. S. Barnett (Masterton) is a sister. .
