SUCCESSES IN SPAIN. REBELS HOLD CAPITALS. FRANCO’S ASSERTION. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 31, 8.5 a.m. MADRID, Aug. 30. The republicans inflicted severe losses by a surprise offensive in Andalusia, capturing five towns near Granada. The Government advance along the Aragon front continues. 'Posts protecting Saragossa were fiercely assailed, resulting in the capture of many prisoners and materials. A thousand insurgents have been cut off. After eighteen attempts to_ bomb Valencia, rebel ’planes were driven off by anti-aircraft guns. The insurgents bombed the outskirts, killing four.
'Hie insurgents admit the Government successes on the Aragon fronts, but claim that the Moors have partly restored the severed communications.
General Franco’s headquarters announce that the insurgents hold 25 provincial capitals, compared with the Government’s fifteen. Also, that out of 20,01)0,000 Spanish population 15,000,000 are living under .General Franco’s regime.
