EXPORT OF SEED.

DEVELOPMENT OF MARKETS . OVERSEAS.

Concern that the markets overseas Tor New Zealand’s certified seed exports had not been fully developed was expressed at a meeting of the North Canterbury executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. A resolution voicing the concern was parsed, and an offer made to co-opqratc with tho Department of Agriculturo in finding markets. , Mr G. Witte, who introduced _ a remit dealing with the subject, also said. that serious concern was felt at the inferior seed sometimes sent abroad. Some of it was of such a quality as to threaten to ruin tho trade. If some othor export markets had been treated as had the seed market they would have been ruined. Ihe remit was supported by almost every member of the executive, and a further resolution was that no uncertified seed which was not high grade should be permitted to be exported.
