EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD” AUGUST 27, 1907.
Tile Wellington Racing Club had given £13,030 in stakes and its totalisator roronne for the year had been £14.335. The Wellington City Council had disposed of the last of its horse trams and had electrified the whole system. Consideration had been given to an offer to lease the tram service for a period of 21 years at a rental of £40.000 per annum. At a Rugby match at Palmerston North between Mnnawatu and Taranaki the gate receipts had been £6O. On the London market butter had been steady and unchanged. New Zealand had been quoted at 105 s and Danish at IOiK Butter manufactured had cost the OtakiManakau Dairy Company 1.48c] per lb f.o.b. The total output for the season had been 364,8941 b.
