SITUATION AT SHANGHAI. FEWER AIR RAIDS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 27, 1.38 p.m. SHANGHAI, Aug. 26. The artillery and aircraft are quieter to-day. The facts relating to the Japanese landings are still undisclosed, though it is believed that they are progressing at Liuho, from which place heavy gun-fire has been heard, also at Woosung and Chapei. The Chinese positions are unaltered, except that they have wholly withdrawn from Yangtsepoo. Tokio claims that 176 Chinese ’planes and 25 hangars have been destroyed between August 14 and 25. The Japanese lost 16 ’planes.
