Lucullus Lad Sold. A patron of A. Jenkins’s stable has purchased from Mrs C. E. Twist the nye-ycai-old Lucullus—Fairy Mark gelding, Lucullus Lad, at a price said to be about 500 guineas. Some of the form of this gelding has been very promising, and he should be a good type for the jumping game. Death of Lord Reading. Mr C L. Orbell has had the misfortune to loso his jumper Lord Reading, who was found dead on Tuesday morning, apparently having attempted to gallop through a wire fence. Lord Reading, who was by Lord Warden from Bello of New York, was a very promising young horse, of whoso future high hopes were entertained. Team For New Plymouth. It is intended that Fcrsen, Gay Rebel, and olivette shall keep their engagements at the combined meeting of the Taranaki and the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Clubs, and arrangements have been made for them to leave Auckland for New Plymouth at tho ueck-end.
Hawke’s Bay Club’s Profit. After allowing £512 3s Id as depreciation on buildings and £l7O 7s 9d as depreciation on plant, the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club shows a surplus of £985 Is 7d on the year’s working.
For Australia. F. Davis, who will leave Wanganui on Wednesday on route to Sydney, will have a select little team to represent him in Australia, all four members of which— Courtcraft, Francis Drake. Homily, and Aiwai—are well forward. They have done a full share of fast work, and when they have had tho finishing touches put on at Randwiek they should bo in great order. Women Trainers.
The Rules of Racing in Australia prohibit women trainers, so that lire J. Campbell will not. appear as tho trainer of Willio Win in his engagements over there Ho was entered as trained by Ins owner. Airs Campbell, however, is making the trip with tho horse, and Mr Coop is going over later. Willie Win will be quartered at Mentone. An Oaks Candidate.
Accomplice, tho Night -Endorse thrce-voar-old filly in H. Telford s stable at Trentham, is facing an early preparation with the New Zealand Oaks in view. A Kiosk Gelding. Tho four-ycar-old gelding Parakino, by Kiosk from Colourlinc, has been sent from Wanganui to be trained by D Cotton at Ricearton. Colourlino is by Nipg<w. Mmstrcl from Civilisation, dam of Civi itj. Parakino has not done very much racing, but broke his maiden status at Wanganui a few months hack.
Given Away. Alcssrs J. S. and W. E. Hazlctt have given Signaller to a friend to bo used as a back. Tho breakdown of the Balboa gelding was unfortunate, as ho promised to make a hurdler above the average. Wild Chase’s Programme. Wild Chase is not expected to race before the October meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. He is to be prepared with a view to his contesting the New Zealand Gup. Well Related.
