CORRESPONDENCE
THE FREE AMBULANCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —On reading the allocations of Lord Nulfield’s gift in your worthy journal of last evening I cannot but help wonder why the name of the Palmeiston North Free Ambulance is not on the list. Who, sir, is more worthy of a. donation from the fund than this body of energetic workers? The Mayor apparently has overlooked these people who should be appreciated tor the way in which they help in the alleviation of suffering and the speedy transportation of the sick and injuied. Trusting sir, that Mr Mansford will realise that these people should not be forgotten and that he will help them from the £IOO of reserve money which he is holding. I arn.rtc.,
When this letter was referred to the Mayor to-day he stated that tho Dree Ambulance liad an application in for a grant and it was not overlooked. * ‘ie Hospital Board,” the Mayor added, ‘‘provides an efficient ambulance service and to make a grant to the I‘ree Ambulance would obviously bo to intensify duplication.”
