Miss Mavis Burrows, of Eltham, is the guest of Rev. W. Langston and Mrs Langston.
Mrs R. Jamieson, of Palmerston North, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Manchester, in Timaru. Miss M. Warren, of Ranfurly Street, is staying with her sister, Mrs F. Strong, of Lower Hutt. Miss Monica Joyce, of Hawera, has returned home from Palmerston North, having concluded her nursing training.
Miss J. Fowler, of Waipawa, and Mr L. King, of Tnglewood. are the guests of Mr and Mrs B. Bodell, of oouth Street.
Miss Violet Wood, formerly of Palmerston North, and now in charge of the kindergarten at the new railway station in Wellington, who visited Palmerston North for the Girls’ Music Club’s musicale last night, returned this morning. Mrs C. A. Small, of Rongopai Street, is attending the New Education Fellowship Conference at Wellington, where she is the guest of Aliss Mind, of Island Bay. Mrs K. Dean and Miss Mona Dean are also visiting Wellington for the conference.
Reference to the passing of Mrs W. McKenzie was made at last evening’s meeting of the executive of the Alanawatu Automobile Association, when a motion of sympathy was passed with the secretary (Mr S. I. McKenzie), who is a son, in his bereavement.
The death has occurred at Sydney of Miss Elizabeth Betts, grand-daughter of Rev. Samuel Marsden, aged 88. Miss Betts represented her family at the Marsden Centenary celebrations at the Bay of Islands in 1914. —Press Association.
A Scottish paper reports the marriage of Dr. Mary Coutts, formerly on the staff of the Wellington Public Hospital, and Dr. Patrick Andersen, Aberdeen. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Coutts both studied at Aberdeen University, the former taking agriculture. Later lie became interested in medicine and qualified as a doctor, and he is now' engaged in medical work in Sheffield.
The Palmerston North _ Hospital Board, at its monthly meeting yesterday, received a letter from Mrs L. A. Abraham thanking the hoard for the part played in presentations recently made to her. She missed her association with the Hospital very much, she said, ifnd often wished that she could be round the wards. Her heart hud always been, and still was, in the welfare of the Hospital, and she took the keenest interest in all that went on. Mrs Abraham wished her kindest remembrances to be conveyed to all her old friends on the hoard.
