GALE IN WELLINGTON
SPORTS POSTPONED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 17. The weather yesterday and through the night was about Wellington’s roughest this winter, but conditions are now improving. All sports have been postponed except the Rugbv match New Zeaknnd v. The Rest. Even the harriers have abandoned their outings. Neither road nor rail, air or sea services were seriously interrupted and the electric ppwer, which usually suffers in gales, experienced no trouble. \ slip on the Western Hutt road has blocked it, cutting off access to the i Manor Park golf links. < I The worst of the storm was at -about midnight, when there wns_ driving heavy rain from the south with trusts of wind reaching 01 miles an hour.
