DESCENT INTO CRATER.
VOLCANOLOGIST’S INTENTION. BRISBANE, July 15. The prominent volcanologist, Di\ E. Stehn, who has been lent to the Commonwealth Government by the Aetherlands East Indies Government to examine the volcanoes at Rabaul, arrived to-dav en route to New Guinea. When lie arrives at Rabaul lie will don a gas mask and descend tlie Vulcan and Matupi craters. He will report on whether Rabaul will bo suitable as a future capital of the mandated, territory.
