POLICE LIBRARY.

GIFT TO DUNEDIN FORCE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, July 15. A generous gilt of £2OO for the purpose of establishing a library at the central police station was made this afternoon by Dr. William Evans on the occasion of his retirement from the position of police surgeon, a post he has held for the past 25 years. The gift was made at a gathering held to'bid farewell to Dr. Evans, and the money "ill be used for the purpose for which it was given, with Superintendent Rawle. Inspector Cameron, and Chief-Detective Young acting as Evans asked that the library should be stocked with books which would be useful to tho men in furthering their professional knowledge. T)r. Evans was presented with a set of crystal ware.
