DAMAGED WARSHIP.

BLAME LAID ON MINE

(British Official Wireless.) Received June 8, 11.55 a.m. RUGBY, June 7

The Financial Secretary to the Admiralty (Mr Shakespeare), in the House of Commons in reply to a question said that a report upon the damage to H.M.S. Hunter had been received. He considered that the report confirmed the statement previously made attributing the damage to a mine, and it was highly probable that the mine was moored.

Mr Shakespeare added that a protest had placed on record the view of the Government that mine-laying on the high seas could not be recognised as legitimate in the circumstances of the present conflict in Spain.

HOPEFUL SIGN,
