YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Active trading in New Zealand Breweries “rights” and in G. JColes shares was the principal feature of the markets on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday. Tlie former were on the easy side, 15 parcels covering 4709 shares being reported sold at from 22s 8d down to 22s 4)d. The shares of New Zealand Breweries, cum dividend and ex rights, were Weak / at- 48s 2d, sellers 49s 3d. Government loans were still in good demand at firm rates. Unanswered buyers were in for the 4 per cent, stocks and bonds, 1952-55, at £lO4 12s Gd. The. 4 per cent, stock, 1946-49, sold at £lO4, and the 1943-46 maturity at £lO3 17s 6d Bank shares were almost. completed}' neglected, the only buying quotation being for Bank of New Zealand, the firm rate of 45s 8d being unsupported by sellers. Industrial issues were dull and relatively neglected. Colonial Sugar sold firmly at £47 2s Cd. Consolidated Brick were wanted at 8s 3d. sellers liolding for 8s 10d. Broken Hill Proprietary were steady at 80s. but Electrolytic Zinc weakened to 55s for the ordinaries and 57s for the preference. Mount Lyoll showed little change.
