LITTLE' THEATRE SOCIETY.
REHEARSED READING
A rehearsed reading of “The Cat’s Cradle,” a three-act play by Aimce and Philip Stuart, was presented by the Palmerston North Little Theatre Society in the St. Andrew’s Hall, last night, to ail enthusiastic audience. The play was an amusing comedy full of piquant situations, with good dialogue throughout, and was handled well by tlie players, many of whom were new to the stage. Mr G. H. Lusk, the producer, deserves also to be congratulated on the presentation. Mrs Asliwell, a newcomer to Palmerston North, who played the part of Angela Fane, was outstanding. She should strengthen the ranks of Little Theatre players considerably. Miss Lucinda D’Atli sustained the exacting role of Hester admirably, while the work of Miss Jean Thomson as Miss Mateham and Miss Marjorie Millar as Irene Fane was always effective. Mr lan Young gave one of the host characterisations yet to his credit as Brigham, a longshoreman, and Mr Ralph Park as Michael Hastings and Mr Cyril Adcock as John, his son. were most convincing. Returning thanks for the enthusiastic reception of the play, the president, Mr H. G. Bagnall, gave a reminder that three one-act plays would be presented late in June.
