WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

MEETING AT COLYTON

The monthly meeting of die Colvton Women’s Institute was well attended on Tuesday, and was presided over by Mis Beatison, the president. The correspondence included an up-to-date list of lecturers and demonstrators for the ensuing twelve months. Notice was received from headquarters to the effect that Coiyton were to combine with the institute at Buiniythorpe on Monday, June 14, to witness a cooking demonstration with electrical appliances. The new badges for members Were reported. to be hi- the hands ot the secretary. The results of the potato growing competition were announced and resulted:—Miss 13. Wiicock 1, Mrs W. \\ • Bussell and Mrs J. . Sliertall 2, equal. '1 he monthly competition, for host bloom out of members’ gardens, again produced a large number of entries and the voting resulted in Mrs W. Bussell gaining first place with green and ’while hyacinth and Mrs Thurston a close second with a carnation.:.and All’s ’l’. N. Shortall s delphinium gained third place equal with Miss’ Power. The thrift competition was for the best article made from a 251 b flour bag and insulted.:—Mrs N. Pearce 1, Miss V. Vilcs 2, Miss L. Pearce 3. The skill competition, famous people, was won by Mrs .Masters. A demonstration on the making of, animals and soft loys from wool was given by Mrs J. Sporle, many norcl exhibits, being shown. The motto was “A Airs Whiteman, was in charge of the onmerry heart dotli need little of medicine, tertainment and the hostesses foi the afternoon were: Alcsdames *l. A. Smith, Weston Smith, T. N. Shortall and Miss Power. Members are reminded of the competition for collection of home-made biscuits and also to bring suitable flowers for a shoulder posy to be made in the hall.
