The Rental Road to the Coronation

His Majesty King George VI is the subject of this portrait by the noted British portrait painter, Simon Elwes. and executed by him for the Royal Academy Exhibition. As may be expected, it was painted before this second son of England’s beloved-Georgo V

had ascended the ’lhrone. He was colonel-in-cliief of the 11th Hussars at the time and it is the uniform of this famed regiment that he wears. It is said that this is the only full-length portrait yet painted of the King.
