BOXING IN AMERICA.

BRADDOCIv SUSPENDED. FAILS TO MEET SCHMELING. NEW YORK, June 3. The State Boxing Commission fined James Brnddoek 1000 dollars and suspended him for his failure to appear at the weighing-in for his match with Max Schmeling, Germany, to-night, and declared that any boxer who engaged Braddock also would he suspended. The Illinois Boxing Commission’s cooperation is asked, hut it is considered unlikely that the latter will interfere in the Braddoclt-Louis contest on June 22. Braddock’s 5000-dollar posted guarantee that he would meet Schmeling is to be divided between Schmeling, who was ready to-day, and the Madison Square Garden authorities. Schmeling, who faithfully underwent months of training here, bitterly protested at the inadequacy of the commission’s action. He had demanded that the title be vacated and himself declared the premier challenger. “Now it only means that if Louis wins he will b@ champion,” he said.

LEWIS BEATS OLIN. ST. LOUTS June 4. Lewis retained his light-heavyweight boxing title by knocking out Oliii in the eighth round in a 15-round bout. Olin absorbed terrific punishment and never threatened the champion. The contender was twice floored, being completely weakened in the fourth round when he was dropped for a oount of eight by a hard right to the heart. Lewis after this pounded him with hard rights and lefts to the face, and continued the battering until the end. Lewis weighed 12st 61b and Olin 12st 6|lb.
