THE JUNIORS.

The curtain-raiser to the big match on the Showgrounds was provided by Old Hoys and Kia Toa juniors, former compensating as best they could for the deteat of tneir seniors. Old Boys put on 24 points to Kia Toa's 3, and they were really the only team in it. Hills and Ward scored tries in the first spell, while Ward converted his own. try and kicked a penalty goal, making the score at half-time 11 —0. In the second session Mills added three more tries and Ward converted on two occasions. G. Beard scored an unconverted' try for Kia Toa. Though the final score between United and Jackeytown was 19 —3 in favour of the former, the latter side put up a solid performance in the first half and at the close of that spell the (score was only o —3 in the winners' favour. Bovis scored iand Ward od.nv'3rtci.l for United and Larkins kicked a penalty goal for the country side. On the resumption MeKenzie dribbled the- ball through for Bovis to .score and Mabey converted. With a bout of reverse-passing, United opened up the game and James provided an opening for Holland. Luxmore was successful with a long solo run, and just prior to the end of the same Bovis dashed over the line from a scrum. St. Patrick's led Massey College all the way. The first half of the game was inclined to lack finish at times. The score was 6 —3 in favour of St. Patrick's at half-time. The 6corers for St. Patrick's were Warn (a try) and Sherir.nn (a penalty goal). For the College side McFarquhar secured a try. Though Massey College were close to scoring in the second half on a number of occasions (and they added three more points with a penalty goal) St. Patrick's were definitely superior. The scorers for St. Patrick's were Wheatlev, Jones converting the try, Warn and Jones (a field goal). The final score was thus 18 —G.
