KIA TOA WIN FIRST ROUND. MAN AAV AT U- UNION GAMES. Beating Old Boys by 18 points to 8, Kia Toa on Saturday emerged winners of the first round of the Mana•watu Rugby Union’s senior grade competition. The teams now enter on the second round. which is played as a separate- competition. iand the winner of this round plays the winner of *the first, if required, at the close of the whole competition to decide the senior championship for the season. In the initial games of the second round St. Patrick’s and Eeilding Old Boys drew in their meeting at Johnston Park, Feeding. and at AVoodville Massey College accounted for the home side by 1G points to nil. The second round game between Old Boys and Kia. Toa is to be played later in the season if the occasion demands. ■ In the junior competition. United find Old Boys retained their joint leadership. United beatinc Jackeytown *uid Old Boys defeating Kia Ton. both wins being decisive. St. Patrick’s remain third on the championship ladder by virtue of a win over Massey College.
