REPERTORY SOCIETY.
“THE LATE CHRISTOPHER BEAN.” When the curtain fell on the Palmerston North Repertory Socie J #’’s production, “The Late Christopher Bean,” at the conclusion of a threenights’ season in the Empire Hall on Saturday, - the play was acclaimed a most successful one. Following the presentation of bouquets and other gifts to the principals, Mr M. H. Oram (president) expressed the pleasure that was felt by the society at such a large attendance, which, he said, would encourage members to go forward. It was very pleasing also to note the number of young players who had come forward to take part in this production. Mr i Oram paid a tribute to their work and also to what had been done by other members off-stage. Thanks were also due, he said, to the three young ladies who had formed themselves into an orchestra (Mrs Rickard and Misses Howley and Paton)) for the occasion, and hoped to be able to build up a permanent orchestra attached to the society. Mr Oram also th a liked those who had lent furniture for the production and finally extended encomiums to Mr J. W. Davidson, producer. This was the third show staged by Mr Davidson and each hnd excelled the previous one. An informal supper party for members of the cast and their friends was later held, to celebrate the success of the production.
