FAREWELL PARTY.
Mrs AV. Allan, of Rangitane .Street, entertained a few friends on Wednesday afternoon as a farewell to Mrs John Marshall, who is leaving early next month, with her husband, on a trip to Scotland. After a most enjoyable afternoon, Mrs Allan, on behalf of those present, presented Mrs Marshall with a hat-box bearing her initials, and wished her a very pleasant holiday. She hoped that Mr Marshall would come back fully restored in health. Mrs Marshall, who was completely taken by surprise, feelingly replied. Another friend, Mrs J. Forbes, who was unable to be present, sent Mrs Marshall a smart brown handbag to match her hat-box. Those present were: Mesdames John Marshall, W. Allan, James Marshall, Dick Stevens, C. Bailey. G. Morrison. V. Stagpoole, J. B. Thompson, J. "itcliell. Smith and Fitzgerald; Misses Morrison, Bailey and Brown. Mr and Mrs Marshall are travelling by the Wanganella to Sydney and are there joining the Oronsay for the trip to England. While in Sydney, Mr and Mrs Marshall are hoping to see their only son, Mr George Marshall, of Palmerston North, who is an engineer on the Dunedin Star, this ship being due in Australia very soon on her voyage from England.
