SHEEP AND CATTLE SELL WELL.

The Feilding stock sale yesterday opened to a good bench of buyers, but unfortunately tbo market for sheep and fat cattle and dairy cattle was short supplied. As a natural result there was a brisk sale for the lines ottered in these departments. Store lambs advanced 3s a head, while fat, sheep were up 4s to ss. There was a particularly good sale for fat cattle, both beef and ex-dairy breeds selling well. A few lines of run cattle sold at very good prices. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Feilding sale as under: —A small entry of sheep came to hand in all sections, and wo report strong competition for all lot* submitted, wether lambs especially showing a decided rise in comparison with sales effected over i lie past three or four weeks. Eat: ewes also participated in a decided rise in comparison with recent rates, and \vu report a. total ecarancc of our offering at auction. A igjit entry of run-bred cat tie, with the usual rue of store cows cx the dairy and a heavy entry of fat cows, came to hand, these being comprised principally of cows of dairy breeds. The N.Z. 1.0 an and Mercantile Agency Coy.. Ltd., report: Entries were comparatively small in each department, but an exceedingly healthy sale is reported throughout. Two races of breeding ewes were offered and of fair quality only; last week’s improved prices in this section were I idly maintained. Store and forward lambs were in larger supply and met with animated competition, value* recovering to ihe peak levels reached in January. Fat sheep, owes particularly firmed lo the extent of Is to 2s per bead, the offering being small. Fat, boner and station-bred cattle sold well throughout, particularly tho former, which hardened approximately 10* to 15s per head. Dalgetv and Co., Ltd., report smaller entries in all sheep sections at the Eeilding .-ale: Eat sheep, owing to short supply, met a firm sale. Two light races of breeding ewes sold firmly to a slight improvement, whilst store lambs were in strong demand and prices firmed Is to Is 6d per head. An average entry of store run cattle and boner cows sold firmly iit late rater-. In the beef pens a full yarding of dairy sorts sold well up to recent prices and the prices for run bred fat cows showed no change. A light entry of dairy cows and heifers showed no change in price. HUXTERVILLE CATTLE EAIR. The X.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report: A good yarding of cattle came forward at the Hunterville fair on Thursday, our share of the entry being approximately 400 head. All cattle came forward in excellent condition, exceptionally fine bullocks being penned. Our top price was £lO 10s for a very nice pen on account Mr Norman Walker: also an exceptionally good line ort account .Mr E. Shaoklcton realised £10; on account of the same vendor 27 bullocks realised £9, and a nice line of 60 20-mos. P.A. steers £7 15s; Mr V. Toulmin’s bullocks realised £9 2s. Tu conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltd., we also sold a very nice line of 28 2£-yr- steers at £9 and an ex ccptionallv good line of 20-mos. steers at £6 17s 6d.
