CLAIM FOR WAGES.
DECISION AT HOKITIKA. Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, April 9. Holding that under section 260 of tlio Mining Act plaintiff was entitled to wages at tho rate of time and a-half in respect of Sundsfy work, the warden, Mr Raymond Ferner, to-day gave judgment at Hokitika for £24 12s 8d in favour of Charles McLean against the Rimu Dredging Company. The case was heard on March 17. McLean claimed £7l 2s Bd, of which £44 10s represented payment for Sunday work during the period when payment was on a monthly rate. This portion of the claim was disallowed. Costs were awarded McLean. A Greymouth message on March 17 stated that an unprecedented mining wages claim of 'considerable interest was heard in the Warden’s Court at Hokitika, when Charles McLean, dredge employee, claimed wages allegedly due for Sunday work over a period of six years.
