CONTROL IN AUSTRALIA. Received March 31. 8.5 a.m. SYDNEY, March 31. The Commonwealth has issued invitations to the State Governments to a conference to discuss uniform to control aviation in Australia, foi/owing the deleat of the recent referendum -whereby the Commonwealth sought to gain absolute control of civil aviation. The Commonwealth Government s aviation and marketing proposals were deleated at the Federal referendum poll on March 6. The aviation proposal secured a majority when the votes for all States were totalled, but secured a majority Jn only Victoria and Queensland. .Majorities in two more States would have been necessary to carry it. To carry either, proposal there should have been a majority of the people in a majority of tlie States. Four States should have voted “Yen" and there should have been a majority for “Yes” for all over Australia.
