TRANSPORT OF STOCK.

IMPORTANT CHANGES. Commencing on „ Friday, important changes in the handling of stock for the Feilding sale will take effect. The Associated Auctioneers, in collaboration with the New Zealand Road Transport Alliance, have decided upon the following new regulations pertaining to the despatch of and reception of stock by heavy motor vehicle transport : (1) No stock will he accepted at the yards for sale after 11 a.m., and no stock will be delivered lrom the yards after 7 p.m. (2) No carrier will in future be permitted to take sheep from the yards on his own initiative. The carrier, as agent for the buyer, or in the case of unsold sheep as agent for the vendor, will be required to be in possession of a docket, and then delivery will be made in the presence of a clerk. (3) Where stock are to be left in the yards overnight, authority will in future be required before stock may be moved from one pen to another. (4) Delivery of stock left over for the night will commence at 6.30 the following morning. Waiving of the regulations pertaining to the arrival of stock will only be permitted in the case of the lorry conveying stock having experienced a breakdown.

It is stated that in the past late arrivals of stock have interrupted the smooth running of selling operations. Regarding the despatch of stock after the sale, it is stated that some farmers leave the matter of making arrangements until the last minute, and for that reason the regulation stating that no stock will be delivered after 7 p.m. has been imposed. By making the necessary arrangements with the auctioneers, confusion will be obviated and farmers have been advised to make sure that the arrangements have been made before leaving the yards.
