‘‘The slogan of the fitness crusade will be ‘Leisure with pleasure’,” said Lord Aberdare, head of Britain’s newphysical training campaign, on his return from America.

“It is insufficient,” he added, “to train the body without studying the mind. This is no militarisation stunt. Jf there is war within two years, as some foresee, there will be no help from the physical fitness movement. It will take a long time to organise thoroughly. Americans are fitter than we. but they lack national organisation.”
