LARGE SCHOOL OF TUNA

LAUNCH PARTY’S CATCH. WHAKATANE, March 29. A launch party returning to Wliakatane from a fishing trip to White Island on Friday rail through a large school of tuna near Whale Island. Four of the fish were caught on the spinner, two being bonita, about 3Ulb each in weight, and the other two albacore, one of the better species for commercial purposes. They weighed ; to A’ 151 b. The fish took very readily and quite a number were lost through faulty hooking.

Soon after the launch left the school of tuna a large whale circled it about 100 yards away, providing an impressive sight in tile calm sea.
