FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
INDOOR BOAVLS. The annual indoors Easter bowls tournament was held on Monday in the Cosmopolitan Club when nine rinks participated, including one from Fcilding and two from Tokomaru. The president (Bro. Buchanan) was in charge and extended a welcome to all players. The results were as follow:—First round: Purcell 11 v. Drurv 10; Bowler 13 v. Scales 2; Hobday 17 v. Hansen 5; Osmond 21 v. Griffiths 6; Fisher, a bye. Second round: Scales 14 v. Fisher 6; Hobday 13 v. Drury 6; Bowler SI v. Osmond 4; Griffiths 15 v. Purcell 4; Hansen, a bye. Third round: Holiday 15 v. Griffiths 9; Osmond 11 v. Fisher 6; Bowler 9v. Purcell 6; Scales 10 v. Hansen 10; Drury, a bye. Fourth round: Osmond 8 v. Hansen 6; Fisher 13 v. Purcell 8; Drury 15 v. Scales 7; Hobday 11 v. Bowler 6; Griffiths, a bye. Fifth round: Purcell 12 v. Hansen 10; Scales 12 v. Griffiths 12; Hobday 15 v. Fisher 2; Drury 12 v. Osmond 7; Bowler, a bye During the afternoon tea was served to the bowlers by Sister C- Edwards. The winner of the tournament was Bro. Hobday’s rink with five wins, the runners-up being Bro. Bowler’s rink, last year’s winners. In presenting the shield the president expressed the hope that all had enjoyed themselves and ho desired to soe all present again next year. Bro. Hobday acknowledged the good wishes.
