FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB.

TRACK SOFT AFTER RAIN. BIG CROWD ATTENDS. Though the weather was dull, no rain fell during the forenoon at Feilding and there was another largo attendance of patrons for the second day of the Feilding Jockey Club’s meeting. The track had softened ns a result of steady rain overnight and early this morning, and the going was heavy. On the first day there was an increase bf £250 on the gates and racebooks compared with last year. SPORTING SONG IMPRESSES. CHALLENGE HELD OFF. Having his first race since the spring, Sporting Song, who was bracketed with Ba. zaine, scored an impressive win in the Kimbolton Hurdles, showing his class against his more seasoned rivals. He was never further back than third behind Bazaine and Beau Gallante, and he came through nicely approaching the last, hurdle and held off the Hawera steeplechasing mare Indiscretion, whose form showed a wonderful improvement. ' Bazaine again gave an erratic display of jumping and was beaten when Beau Gallante, Indiscretion and Sporting Song asserted themselves two furlongs from home. Invictus made a bad jump early and tailed off, but he finished very strongly to cut Beau Gallante out of third money. King Pluto was next ahead of Ixn-d Hereford, who was under the whip atl the way and was in one of his sour moods. FLYING CHIEF WINS. EASY VICTORY. Flying Chief who ran off the course on the first day was fortunate in having Silver River to attend him running to the bend. Even then he went out into the centre of the track at the bottom of the straight. Once headed for the judge, however, Flying Chief drew right away to win easing up. Silver River who had assisted with all the pacemaking finished second. Golden Chest was third. Autumn Leaf who was always well placed was almost in line fourth. The well backed Imposture was third into the straight but tired, as did Kara, who made his run on the turn. TAITORU MAKES AMENDS. EFFORTLESS STYLE. Taitoru, who was not seen to advantage in the Cup on the first day, made amends by winning the Easter Handicap with a change of riders in effortless style after making all the running with Waipiro. Taitoru left Waipiro half a mile from home and, shaking off a strong challenge by Lapel, who also had a change of riders, Lapel who also had a change of riders, ran a greatly improved race. He ran up to the leading division, which comprised Waipiro, Taitoru, Jubilee Song, and Royal Secret five furlongs from home, and was the only one to make a showing against Taitoru. Royal Secret ran his race in patches, but had every chance, as did Spiral. One Whetu was again tailed off in the early stages and had far too much ground to make up in the straight. Davistock was a long way back. RACING IN DETAIL. KIMBOLTON HURDLES, of £120: second horse £2O, and third £lO. About one mile and a-half and 130 yards. 2 Mrs G. M.
